1) What is Pine Orchard Camp?
Pine Orchard Camp (otherwise known as “POC” by regular members) is a Christian camp that has been around for over 70 years sharing the message of Jesus Christ. Pine Orchard Camp is affiliated with the Free Methodist Church of Canada. This 10-acre camp is located just 30 minutes north of Toronto, Ontario. More information can be found at POC’s main website here.
2) What are your fundamental beliefs?
Here is our Statement of Faith, copied from the POC website.
Our Statement of Faith
In agreement with the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, the statement of faith for Pine Orchard Camp affirms the following:
The Holy Scriptures, as originally given by God, are divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy, and constitute the only supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Our Lord Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh; we affirm his virgin birth, sinless humanity, divine miracles, vicarious and atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension, ongoing mediatorial work, and personal return in power and glory.
The salvation of lost and sinful humanity is possible only through the merits of the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, received by faith apart from works, and is characterized by regeneration by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit enables believers to live a holy life, to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Church, the body of Christ, consists of all true believers.
Ultimately God will judge the living and the dead, those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
3) Who is the Young Adults Retreat for?
The Young Adults Retreat is for young adults between the ages of 18 and 30, geared for those who are in a “young adult” stage in life. A “young adult” stage in life is a broad term, we know—but mainly this refers to those who are in university, dating intentionally, and/or newly married (and maybe with kids!).
4) Can I attend if I’m under 18?
We love that you’re so excited about the retreat! If you are under 18 at registration but will be 18 before the retreat begins, yes. However, if you will be under 18 during the retreat, we ask that you defer registration to another year. We look forward to meeting you!
5) Do I need to be a Christian to attend the retreat?
The YA Retreat is open to all people from all walks of life, from firm believers in Christ to those who are questioning. We do ask, however, that those who attend are respectful, and have an open heart as well as an open mind.
